Welcome to Summit Learning Centre!
We are pleased to welcome you to our website and our school.
Summit Learning Centre is a Distributed Learning School, serving both home learners, as well as full-time and part time online learners, K-12, including adults, throughout British Columbia. Summit is located in Mission BC, and is part of the Mission School District.
Distributed Learning, also known as home learning, online learning, and formally known as distance education, is growing rapidly in British Columbia and we at Summit are pleased to be part of this innovative approach to learning. There are an increasing number of families in BC who are taking advantage of the opportunity to educate their children in this model, with the flexibility and choice, this form of learning offers families.
At Summit our experienced and qualified teachers, will work closely with you to develop a personalized plan of learning to meet the unique needs and learning style of every student. With the provision of curriculum and resources to support individual student interest and needs, parents can feel confident their children are engaging in a comprehensive and rich educational program while meeting grade level expectations.
In Grades 8-12, Summit offers both full time and cross-enrolled programs in an online learning environment. Students can enroll in all their courses at Summit as a full time student, or take advantage of the opportunity to 'cross-enroll' and take some courses at their local school, and one or more of their courses at Summit at the same time. The ability to cross-enroll at Summit from anywhere in BC, at any time, provides a much needed element of flexibility for busy high school students, or students who need to upgrade a course, or who simply wish to take a course that does not fit into their school time table.
In addition to strong, comprehensive and flexible academic programs, Summit provides rich offsite curricular and social interaction experiences throughout the lower mainland for our fully enrolled Summit students. These activities are many and varied, and include such things as swimming lessons, skating lessons, ski and snowboard lessons, musical theatre, dance, drumming, guitar, pottery, BMX, and rock climbing, just to name a few. Additionally a variety of field trips are offered each term at various locations throughout the lower mainland. All of these experiences provide the important opportunity to address learning outcomes often difficult to address in a home learning setting, while at the same time allowing the development of important social relationships in and among our students, and our Summit community as a whole.
We welcome the opportunity to discuss our various program options with you further.
